Programme
We follow
the ASA National Plan for teaching swimming which will guide you or your child
through
a planned syllabus of work to help you to achieve your goals. This will involve
a combination of water skills, stroke technique and practices to develop fitness
and stamina.
It is designed by the ASA who are the recognised Governing Body for swimming,
diving, water polo, synchro and open water swimming. It provides a template
which sets a National standard for performance – offering a degree of
consistency with regard to what we expect swimmers to do and how
we expect them to do it. It is a multi disciplinary and multi stroke method
which builds a more rounded and skilful swimmer. It develops high reliability
through repetition, revision and consolidation and follows the requirements
of the National Curriculum. The ASA National Plan is the most comprehensive
and
pro – active award scheme in British sport.
Awards in the form of badges and certificates can be purchased from the Cobham
Swim School as the requirements of the Plan are met. These are a very valuable
tool in motivating pupils through the 12 levels, from novice to advance swimmer.
As such, they are a permanent record of achievement
rewarding commitment and effort.
